One Hour Rolls

I have had this recipe since college thanks to my old roommate Emily (Leckie) Milton.  She had some great recipes.  This recipe is fast and tastes good.  I used all whole wheat this time but you can use white or wheat, your preference.  Enjoy!

One Hour Rolls
2 pkgs yeast
1 1/2 cups warm milk
1 tsp salt
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup soft butter
4 1/2 cups flour

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  In large bowl combine yeast and milk, let stand 5 minutes.  Add rest of ingredients and mix together well.  Knead if needed.  Cover and let rise 20-25 minutes.  Divide dough in half.  Roll out one unto floured surface in the shape of a circle.  Cut with pizza cutter as if you were cutting a pizza.  Take each triangle and roll larger end towards smaller end (towards the center).  repeat with second half.  Place on greased cookie sheet and cover and let rise 10 minutes or longer.  Bake for 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees.  Rub butter on top if desired.

  1. How much is 2 pkgs of yeast if I were using a larger bag of yeast? Those look delicious!

  2. 1 pkg of yeast=2 1/4 tsp of yeast so 2 pkg=4 1/2 tsp; hope that helps. Peggy
